DIGITAL FINANCIAL INCLUSION: FACTOR INFLUENCING THE DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL PAYMENT SYSTEM IN METROPOLITAN TRANSPORT CORPORATION IN CHENNAI DISTRICT

Abstract

The government provides the public with a transport system to move from one place to another without any disruptions. Chennai boasts an excellent transport facility, but is it hassle-free? Are commuters satisfied with the transport service? The primary issue with Chennai's public MTC bus service is the difficulty in obtaining tickets with exact change. This study examines the factors that influence the implementation of a digital payment system in MTC. According to this research, the environment has the greatest impact on the implementation of digital payment in the Chennai transport service. Collaboration between the Chennai corporation and the Indian government has helped bring this service closer to being among the world's best. The study used a random sampling method and conducted interviews and questionnaires to collect data from January to March 2023. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to identify the key factors that influence the adoption of digital payment in MTC.
