SAVITRIBAI PHULE AND HER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE EDUCATION WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO NEP 2020

This paper offers a qualitative historical examination of Savitribai Phule's contributions to social and educational reform, highlighting how well they correspond with the tenets and objectives of India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. NEP 2020's goal of equitable, flexible, and comprehensive education for all is reflected in Phule's support of inclusive education, equal access for girls and members of underprivileged castes, community-engaged pedagogy, and empowerment via critical thinking. Emphasis is on culturally appropriate pedagogy, various learner needs, and ongoing professional development aligns with her progressive curriculum design, concentration on teacher training from local communities, and lifelong learning initiatives. NEP 2020's focus on affirmative action, gender equality, and universal access, including provisions for underprivileged groups, is reflected in Phule's dedication to social justice and breaking down caste and gender barriers. This paper demonstrates how Phule's ground-breaking work offers a fundamental ethos and useful model for ongoing educational reforms intended to promote equality, decency, and empowerment in India's educational system by placing her legacy within the current framework of today.
