Abstract

Talent management has become a critical concern for organizations aiming to maintain competitive advantages in dynamic environments. This study provides a theoretical exploration of leadership strategies and employee retention within Libya’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) sector. The analysis highlights the vital role of leadership in enhancing employee engagement, enhancing workplace satisfaction, and reducing turnover. Leadership is identified as a mediating factor that bridges talent management practices and employee retention, emphasizing its role in performance management, career development, and competency mapping. The study underscores that effective leadership strategies, such as mentoring, feedback, and performance recognition, can significantly enhance employee satisfaction and organizational commitment. Moreover, it addresses challenges faced by the CAA, including inadequate training programs, limited career advancement opportunities, and ineffective performance appraisals. Findings suggest that adopting adaptive leadership styles tailored to generational workforce needs is crucial to sustaining talent and achieving organizational goals. The study concludes by recommending continuous performance management planning and the implementation of strategic leadership practices to ensure workforce sustainability in Libya’s aviation sector.
