THE IMPACT OF EMPLOYEE ISOLATION ON JOB PERFORMANCE OF WORK-FROM-ANYWHERE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS IN INDIA: A MOTIVATION MEDIATED APPROACH
Abstract
This research paper investigates the mediating influence of motivation on workforce isolation and performance of work-from-anywhere (WFA) Information Technology (IT) professionals in India. An online/offline survey was engaged to collect data from 410 IT employees work-from-anywhere minimum of one or more days per week from 3 regions of 28 states and eight union territories in India. The findings indicate that employee isolation (EI) has a negative influence on job performance (JP). Motivation significantly influences job performance in direct relations, and motivation mediates indirect-only (full mediation) the link between employee isolation and job performance. Little or no literature is available on the effect of employee isolation on IWPQ scales and effect of motivation as a mediator on WFA IT professionals in India. As an outcome, this research paper addresses the literature gap in the Indian context.
