Abstract

Effective governance is integral to the development and progress of any region, with local governance playing a crucial role in addressing the unique needs of communities. Public participation in the decision-making processes of local governance is widely recognized as a key component for enhancing governance quality and ensuring responsiveness to the diverse interests of the population.

This paper explores the multifaceted role of public participation in local governance, aiming to shed light on its significance and influence for the potential improvements. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining literature review and surveys with key stakeholders to gather comprehensive data on the perceptions and experiences of both the public and government officials. The findings reveal the significant influence of public participation on decision-making, transparency, and accountability.
