Abstract

Digital technology has become an essential part of almost every aspect of our lives, especially for young people in Vietnam. Digital technology provides opportunities as well as challenges for Vietnamese youth. With its potential to improve education and academic outcomes, digital technology can help enhance the skills and knowledge of Vietnamese youth. However, the explosion of digital technology has also created new challenges. In a rapidly developing digital technology landscape, digital skills play an increasingly important role in youth's employability. This study aims to explore the impact of digital skills on the perceived employability of Vietnamese youth. The research was conducted through a survey of 624 young people (aged 18–30 years old), who are young workers working at businesses operating in five fields: information technology, finance and banking, logistics, tourism, and retail. Research results show that all six digital skills, including digital device operating skills, information and data mining skills, communication and collaboration skills, digital content creation skills, problem-solving skills, and safety and security skills, have a strong influence on the perceived employability of Vietnamese youth. This has practical significance in proposing solutions to promote digital skills as well as establishing digital skills training programs and content for workers in general and Vietnamese youth in particular.
