A STUDY OF SELF HELP GROUPS ON PROMOTING ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THIRUVALLUR DISTRICT
Abstract
Now India, societal improvement is a compass, and thus, it is not a saying but a reality. Entrepreneurship emerging through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) contributes to the economic comfort, sustainability, and in poverty reduction. The growth of SHGs is evidence in itself. In the recent decade, micro finance and SHGs have raise up as prominent solutions to the entrepreneurial crisis existing in the country, and their role on promoting and empowering entrepreneurs and their development needs to study. Samples of 120 respondents in Thiruvallur district were selected using convenience sampling method. Descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis are the statistical tools applied in this study. SPSS v23. is used to analyse the data. Results confirmed that Employment Opportunity, Inducement, Confidence and Team spirit are the significant predictors of socio-economic status.
