Abstract

This analysis explores the state of sports regimes in India, the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), and South Korea, highlighting the disparities and identifying the pressing need for reform in India's sporting landscape. The study draws on various dimensions, including infrastructure, funding, grassroots development, and international competitiveness. In the US and UK, sports are deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric, with robust funding, state-of-the-art facilities, and a strong emphasis on grassroots development. This has translated into consistent international success in various disciplines. South Korea has similarly invested heavily in sports infrastructure and athlete development, resulting in remarkable achievements on the global stage.

In contrast, India faces challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited grassroots programs, and a lack of systematic talent identification and nurturing. Despite its immense potential, India lags behind in international sports competitions. This analysis underscores the urgent need for increased funding, improved infrastructure, and enhanced grassroots programs to harness India's sporting talent pool. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of institutional reforms and international collaboration to bridge the gap and elevate India's standing in the world of sports. The findings underscore the imperative for India to learn from the sports regimes of the US, UK, and Korea and implement comprehensive reforms to unlock its sporting potential and achieve greater success on the global stage.
