AN ANALYSIS ON PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING AMONG STUDENT TEACHERS
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to explore the association of Psychological Well-being and Perceived Social Support of student teachers studying in College of Education in Chennai District. Normative survey method is adopted for gathering data from the respondents. Stratified random sampling method was used to select the sample of the study. Psychological Well-being scale developed and validated by Riffs (2011) was utilized in this study. Perceived Social Support scale was developed and standardized by the investigator. Pearson product moment correlation and ‘t’ test was used to analyze the data. Results revealed that there is significant relationship between Perceived Social Support and Psychological Well-being. It is found that there is no significant difference in Perceived Social Support with respect to gender and year of study. In Psychological Well-being, significant difference is found based on gender and year of study where male student teachers excel in Psychological Well-being.
