A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON ONLINE AND TRADITIONAL EDUCATION ON EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Abstract
The study aimed to measure the level of emotional intelligence acquired by the students during the online and traditional teaching methods. Herein Descriptive and Experimental research design was adopted. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire from 173 students at two different periods. The data was collected after traditional teaching for 5 long days and similar topics were thought to students online for another 5 long days with the same set of lecturers in college. For the study five significant variables identified through reviews namely; Self-awareness, Self-regulation, Social skills, Empathy and Motivation were considered and analysed. From the result obtained, it can be interpreted that there is a significant difference in the emotional intelligence of the students due to online and traditional teaching methods. It was found that emotional intelligence is high for the students pursued through the traditional teaching method. Further, it was found that social skill and motivation is high for students’ perusing through traditional method. While Self-regulation and self-awareness are high for students perusing through online teaching method.
